Forever Plaid is a romp through pitch-perfect harmonies and delightful comic timing. A musical tribute to the boy groups of yesteryear—The Four Aces, The Four Freshmen, and The Lettermen, the show will bring back memories of your favorite songs.
The plot revolved around the Plaids—a wholesome quartet cut down in their prime on their way to their first big gig — return from the afterlife for one last chance to perform their show. What follows is a blend of tight harmonies, playful choreography, and unexpected laughs.
FOREVER PLAID features Nick Arceo as Smudge, Sean M.G. Caron as Frankie, Elijah McTiernan as Sparky, and Taelon Stonecipher as Jinx. Their voices blend together in perfect harmony, but it was also nice to see their powerful vocals on an individual basis.
The show is produced by Wendy Kaplan and Wayne Mell. From “Three Coins in the Fountain” to “Love is a Many-Splendored Thing,” each song is delivered flawlessly. The standout number, a riotous, lightning-fast version of the Ed Sullivan Show (complete with impressions and accordion) is hysterical and brings back fond memories of families gathered around the TV to watch Topo Gio and others.
The Plaids’ story reminds us of dreams deferred, second chances, and the timeless power of music to connect us — across decades and generations.
Two fine musicians, Jeremy Ramey on keyboard and Jeff Smith on Bass, share the stage with the actors. Directed and choreographed by Edward D. Lindem with handsome costumes by Wendy Kaplan and music direction by Jeremy Ramey, the show brings back musical memories that have long been forgotten.
The show runs 90 minutes with no intermission.
